Obituary: Geraldine E. “Gerrie” Benton Amendola, 81, of East Haven
A great-grandmother, prior to her retirement, Gerrie worked for the Fusco Corporation for many years.
Geraldine E. “Gerrie” Benton Amendola, 81, of East Haven beloved wife of Genaro R. “Jerry” Amendola Jr. passed away on July 7, 2023 at Whispering Pines Rehabilitation and Nursing Center surrounded by her loving family. Loving mother of Cheryl (Tony) Farah of Myrtle Beach, SC and Robert G. (Julie) Amendola of Northford. Also survived by five grandchildren and one greatgrandchild. Sister of Hertha Russell of Branford, Barbara Thomas of Orange, Sandy O’Donnell of Florida and the late Judith Johnson and Louis Benton. Gerri was born in New Haven on November 23, 1941 a daughter of the late Louis and Hertha Lenahan Benton. Prior to her retirement, Gerrie worked for the Fusco Corporation for many years.
Her funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven WEDNESDAY morning at 10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Family and friends may call TUESDAY from 5pm to 8pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 355 Foxon Rd., East Haven, CT 06513.
