Obituary: James J. “Seamus” Clyne, 87, of East Haven

Born in Ireland, he was a US Army veteran, and train conductor for the NY, NH & Hartford Railroad, Conrail and Metro North for 41 years.

James J. “Seamus” Clyne, 87, of East Haven passed away August 31, 2021 in the West Haven Veterans Medical Center. Husband of the late Theresa “Esther” Pettit Clyne. Beloved father of Barry (Lucia) Clyne of Guilford, Dermot Clyne of Sunrise, FL, James J. Clyne, Jr. and Neil Clyne both of East Haven and Theresa (Arthur) Goodrich of Portland, CT. Loving grandfather of Brianna (Ryan) Nobile, Chad, Brittany and Neil Clyne, Jr. Sister of Marie Hanley of County Mayo, Ireland, Francis (Patricia) Clyne of Circleville, NY and the late Raymond and Michael Clyne. Brother-in-law of Rose Clyne of Mohill, Ireland.

Seamus was born in Mohill, County Leitrim, Ireland on July 19, 1934 a son of the late Francis and Mary Roddy Clyne.

Prior to his retirement he was a conductor for the NY, NH & Hartford R.R., Conrail and Metro North for 41 years.

He was an Army veteran.

His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte 80) East Haven Wednesday morning at 10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11:00. Interment with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call TUESDAY from 4:00-7:00 PM. Memorial contributions maybe made to the Fisher House Foundation at fisherhouse.org.
