Obituary: Joanann “JoJo” Gondek, 44, of East Haven
Joanann, who fought a courageous battle against breast cancer, loved family/friend time, and worked for the city of New Haven for 20 years.

Joanann “JoJo” Gondek, 44, of East Haven, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 1st, 2023 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Joanann was born on June 25th, 1978 in New Haven. She is the daughter of Joann Esposito and the late Ralph Gondek. She is lovingly remembered by her 5 children whom she cherished: Bianca, Joshua, Joseph, Antonio and Justin; her loving companion and soul mate Joshua Brown; her sister Jeanine Avitabile (Matthew) and brother Dominic Gondek; her nieces and nephews Hans (Kaite) Alicia, Matthew and Michael. She also leaves to cherish her memory her great nieces Giada and Mila Esposito and her loving fur babies Milo, Minnie and Lola.
Joanann loved spending time with her family, friends and watching Gordon Ramsay. She will always be #NickStrong. Joanann was employed by the City of New Haven for over 20 years and enjoyed going to work every day to see her coworkers. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Singh and her staff at Memorial Sloan Kettering for their care and compassion during her journey.

Her funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte 80) East Haven Tuesday morning at 10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at St. Vincent dePaul Church at 11:00. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven. Friends may call TUESDAY MORNING from 8:30-10:30. In lieu of flowers, please donate in her memory to your local animal shelter as she loved dogs more than people.
