Obituary: John A. Umlauf, 75, of East Haven
A 40-year union painter, Branford Elks member and East Haven Food Pantry volunteer, he loved Doo-Wop and was famous for his Johnny McMuffins

John A. Umlauf, 75, of East Haven, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2021 surrounded by family and friends at CT Hospice in Branford. John was born in New Haven, to David and Astrid Umlauf on December 11th, 1945.
He worked as a union painter for Local 186 for 40 years. He was a member of the Branford Elks Lodge 1939. John was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. He loved Doo-Wop music and was famous for his Johnny McMuffins.
John is survived by his loving wife Kathy Fiasconaro Umlauf of 39 years and his daughters Christina and Stephanie Umlauf. John is preceded in death by his parents David and Astrid Sundberg Umlauf along with his siblings David Umlauf, Tommy Umlauf, Dolores Behrend, Marilyn Cavalier and Lorraine Umlauf. John was loved and will be missed by his many friends, nieces and nephews, and his mother and father-in-law, Raymond and Betty Fiasconaro.
Services will be held in the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte 80) East Haven Friday morning at 11:00. Interment will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Family and friends may call FRIDAY MORNING from 9:00 until time of Service. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the East Haven Food Pantry, 39 Park Place, East Haven, CT 06512 where John volunteered.
