Obituary: ​Joseph Wolofsky, Sr., 91, of East Haven

He was a volunteer at the East Haven Senior Center for the past 25 years. He was a WWII Army veteran.

Joseph Wolofsky, Sr., 91, of East Haven passed away November 8, 2018 in the St. Raphael Campus surrounded by his loving family. Husband of the late MaryAnn Ignoto Wolofsky. He was born in New York City on December 13, 1926 a son of the late Harry and Freda Orenstein Wolofsky.

He is survived by a son Joseph Wolofsky, Jr. and his wife Susan Borrelli Wolofsky of East Haven, a daughter Donna Gallegos of New Haven, a granddaughter, Rose Gallegos of New Haven, and a great grandson Carmela Rivera-O'Conner of New Haven, a sister Rhoda Berkowitz of Delray Beach, FL and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister Ethel Celentano. Prior to his retirement Joe worked for Sikorsky Aircraft, the Sargent Co. and the Burndy Corporation for many years and was a volunteer at the East Haven Senior Center for the past 25 years. He was a WWII Army veteran.

His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 830 Jones Hill Rd., West Haven Monday morning at 10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated in Our Lady of Victory Church at 11:00. Entombment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Friends may call SUNDAY from 4:00-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made to the Amvets Post #1, 194 West Spring St., West Haven, CT 06516.
