Obituary: Luigi G. Riccio, 87, of East Haven

Born in Italy, for half a century the owner/operator of a shoe making and repair shop, he loved making his own wine, gardening and walking.

Luigi G. Riccio, 87, of East Haven passed away peacefully January 14th, 2023 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was the beloved husband of 61 years to Elisa Patricelli Riccio.
Luigi was born in Calvisi San Nitica, Caserta, Italy on June 23rd, 1935 to the late Angelo and Marianna Addario Riccio.

For nearly 50 years he operated his own shoemaking and repair shop on Main Street in East Haven before retiring in 2012. Luigi loved to make his own wine, gardening and going walking.

In addition to his wife Elisa, Luigi is survived by his children: Angelo of New Haven, Connie of North Branford and Tony (Nicole) of Northford; grandchildren Stefanie Andree, Nicollette and T.J. Riccio. He is also survived by 2 brothers, 4 sisters, and many nieces & nephews especially Connie, Brian & Nicholas Sims.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit THURSDAY January 19th from 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM at East Haven Memorial Funeral Home 425 Main Street, East Haven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Luigi at 12:00 PM in St. Vincent de Paul Church (St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish) 80 Taylor Ave, East Haven. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery.
