Madeline F. Amici DeMatteo, 92, of East Haven, beloved wife of the late Alphonse S. DeMatteo, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025 surrounded by her loving family at Yale New Haven Hospital St. Raphael Campus. Loving mother of Francis “Frank” DeMatteo of Northford, Michael A. (Marisa) DeMatteo of Madison and Maria (Kevin Sr.) Howard of East Haven. Loving grandmother of Justin, Ryan and Felicia DeMatteo and Kevin Jr. and Ryan Howard. Madeline was predeceased by her brother, Francis Amici. Madeline was born in New Haven on August 1, 1932 daughter of the late Michael and Angelina Casserino Amici. She was an avid UCONN Women’s Basketball fan. Prior to her retirement, Madeline was employed by Echlin of Branford and KinderCare.
Her funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven FRIDAY, July 25, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Family and friends may call FRIDAY morning from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
