Obituary: Marcia Federico-Longo, 75, of East Haven

A modern day fashionista with a beautiful smile, big heart and infectious laugh​, she was a beloved daycare owner and Tuttle School educator

Marcia Federico-Longo, 75, of East Haven passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday September 27, 2023 surrounded by her family. Marcia was born in Irvine, Kentucky on August 19, 1948.

She owned and operated Sandcastle Home Daycare for many years. In more recent years, Marcia continued her love for molding young minds at Tuttle School where she was adored by all of the children, families and coworkers; her love for all of them was just as deep. She loved to travel to the Caribbean, she loved to shop, and loved to spend time with her family, friends and her beloved dogs Spencer and Kenzie.

Marcia brightened every room she walked into with her beautiful smile and her infectious laugh. She was a modern day fashionista, who you’d never find her without one of her gorgeous outfits with matching handbag and shoes. Marcia was a beautiful person, inside and out with the biggest heart anyone has ever seen. She was always willing to help anyone, Marcia never hesitated.

Marcia is survived by her loving husband Jim Longo, her children Matthew (Amy) Haley of East Haven, and Tiffany (Mark) Cruz of Killingworth, her sister Sheila (Burke) Reagan of Florida, her loving grandchildren Matthew, and Aidan Haley, and Anna, and Emerson Cruz and many nieces and nephews. Marcia’s family would like to extend a special acknowledgement to her Tuttle family who meant the world to her and her special friends Gina and Ben Fronte. She was predeceased by her two brothers Richard and Mark Smith.

Memorial Contributions can be made in Marcia’s name to The East Haven Animal Shelter, or to Tuttle Elementary School- which will be used for a scholarship in her name.
