Obituary: Marie Ann Piscatelli Riccitelli, 87, of East Haven

A great cook and longtime church volunteer, she enjoyed bowling, sewing, knitting, crocheting, bingo at St. Vincent's, and casino trips.

Marie Ann Piscatelli Riccitelli, 87, of East Haven, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on February 23, 2023. She was born in New Haven on May 14, 1935 to the late Peter and Philomena Cassella Piscatelli. She was the loving and devoted wife of Carmine P. Riccitelli, Sr. for over 65 years. Her loving presence on earth will be dearly missed by her three devoted children, Carmine “Ricky” (Patricia) Riccitelli, Jr. of East Haven, Linda (Ronald) Houde of Branford and Craig Riccitelli of East Haven, as well as her loving grandchildren, Ronald (Kelly) Houde, Jr., Rebecca (Brendhan) Naudé, Caitlin Riccitelli, Tierney Riccitelli and her precious great-granddaughters, Lily and Haley Naudé, who brought so much joy to her life. She was ecstatic about the upcoming arrival of a great-grandchild in August.

She leaves behind her brother Richard Piscatelli, brother-in-law Albert Riccitelli, sister-in-laws Filomena (Dolly) Apuzzo, Gloria Daly, RoseMary Riccitellli and Judie Riccitelli, along with her devoted and loving Godchildren JoAnn Gradzik and Dennis Piscatelli and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Pasquale Piscatelli, Peter Piscatelli, Jr. and sister-in-laws Anna Piscatelli, Amelia (Emmy) Piscatelli, Carmella Piscatelli, Mary Quagliano, Lucy Anyzeski, Catherine Riccitelli, brother-in-laws Pasquale Riccitelli, Joseph Riccitelli, Carmino Riccitelli, George Riccitelli, Frank Quagliano, John Apuzzo, Michael Anyzeski, Anthony Casale and James Daly, as well as her loving niece and Goddaughter Lucinda (Anyzeski) Simone.

She graduated from West Haven High School and worked at CMS, Kelsey’s Bakery, Center Cafe and D.C Moore School as a lunch mother and also volunteered as Treasurer of the D.C. Moore PTO for several years. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Clare Church and a member of the Ladies Guild for many years, chairing the Christmas Bazaar Cookie Walk and volunteering at the church carnival. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, knitting, crocheting and ceramics. Her favorite activities were playing bingo at St. Vincent’s, trips to the casinos and Atlantic City with her dear friends, the neighborhood coffee clutch and Friday night card games. She was a great cook and loved to bake delicious holiday breads, pies and cookies to share with her family and friends.
