Obituary: Marie R. Mingione Onofrio, 95, of East Haven

Marie R. Mingione Onofrio, 95, of East Haven passed away on April 22, 2023 at Yale New Haven Hospital St. Raphael Campus. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony J. Onofrio for 58 years. Marie was born on August 17, 1927, daughter of the late Pasquale and Mary Lauria Mingione.

She graduated from Commercial High School and went on to cosmetology school. Marie was a hairdresser for over 30 years, owning her own business, Marie’s Beauty Fair, in East Haven. Marie enjoyed Bingo at the East Haven Senior Center and going to the casino.

Marie was predeceased by her brothers Pasquale, Louis, and Robert Mingione. Marie is survived by her loving caregivers: niece and goddaughter, Mary Ann DeChello; niece Lori (Guy) Vitagliano; and goddaughter Bianca (Paul) Gambardella. Having no children of her own, Marie is also survived by three generations of nieces and nephews that she loved like her own.
He funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd., (Rte 80) East Haven Saturday morning 11:00. A graveside service will follow in All Saints Cemetery in North Haven at 11:30. Friends may call SATURDAY MORNING from 9:30-11:00. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association at www.alzheimers.org.
