Obituary: Mario Monico, 95, of East Haven

Mario was a pipefitter for the S.C.G.C., a proud WW II Army veteran and a lifetime 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

Mario Monico, 95, of East Haven beloved husband of Marie Germe Monico passed away on October 26, 2021 surrounded by his family in CT. Hospice. Loving father of Julie (John) Lacey of Branford, Prisco (Mary) Monico and Michael (Lisa) Monico all of East Haven. Mario is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Mario was predeceased by his brothers Louis, Alphonse and Salvatore Monico. Mario was born in New Haven on March 31, 1926 son of the late Prisco and Anna Raio Monico.

Prior to his retirement Mario was a pipefitter for the S.C.G.C. and a proud WW II Army veteran and a lifetime 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80) East Haven SATURDAY morning at 10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11:00. Interment with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Family and friends may call SATURDAY morning from 8:30 to 10:30.
