Obituary: Michael Edward Perry, Sr. (Porto Funeral Homes)

Michael Edward Perry Sr. of East Haven, CT, passed away peacefully at the age of 60 with his family by his side on March 12th, 2026. He was born on October 15, 1965 to Charles and Maryann Perry in New Haven, CT. After graduating from East Haven High School, Michael joined the United States Navy and dedicated four years to his country. He married the love of his life Karen Clauss in June 1989, and together they shared 36 wonderful years. Michael loved his friends, family, and most of all his New York Mets. His smile lit up every room he walked into. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Maryann and a brother-in-law Wes. Michael is survived by two loving sons Michael Perry Jr (Shannon) of East Haven, and Dylan Perry of East Haven. He is also survived by three loving siblings Charles Perry (Tina) of Branford, Karen McDade and Judy Perry of East Haven; survived by in-laws Pam DeMarseilles (Edward) of Oxford and Richard Clauss of East Haven. He is survived by his nieces and nephews Shawn McDade (Tiffany) of IN, Jenna Addison (Michael) of Shelton, Nicole White (David) of East Haven, Jillyanne Sault of Wallingford, Michael DeMarseilles of NY, Christian and Kayla Clauss (Shawn) of East Haven; great nieces and nephews Jacob (Michaella), Samantha, Elizabeth, Makayla, Eli, DJ, and Aurora; godson Tory and extended family Chris, CJ, Jodie, Deanna Teto; His brothers at the Umberto Club. Lastly his four-legged companion Thuggy. Michael worked for the United States Postal Service as a carrier for 30 plus years, everyone knew him as “Mike the Mailman” He would love talking about his customers and conversations they would have in passing. His family would like to give our deepest gratitude to the Yale ICU and Cardiology Unit for their tremendous care and compassion during those tough hours.

His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte 80) East Haven Wednesday morning at 9:00. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 9:30. Interment with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Family and friends may call TUESDAY from 5:00-8:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org.
