Obituary: Patricia Ann Matteo Scavone, 87, of East Haven

She had a wide circle of friends who enjoyed each other's company on bus trips, bowling, playing bocce, and dining out.

Patricia Ann Matteo Scavone (“Aunt Patti” to all), 87 years old of East Haven passed away suddenly at home on August 20, 2018. She was the beloved wife of Edwin “Red” Scavone, sister-in-law (but “as close as true sisters”) of Dolores Scavone Schierholz, and daughter of Anna Musco Matteo and Harry Matteo who all predeceased her. Aunt Patti was born on October 16, 1930 in New Haven and graduated from Commercial High School.

She proudly worked at SNET for 40 years in the engineering department. After retirement Aunt Patti enjoyed traveling with Red, especially to Italy, to Florida - where they owned a second home, and to their favorite city, Chicago. She had a wide circle of friends who enjoyed each other’s company on bus trips, bowling, playing bocce, dining out, and spending days at the beach.

Through the years she loved her many pets, who loved her back doubly, especially her cat Cesare. Beloved Aunt to Kurt Schierholz; Frederika Johnson; Eric Schierholz (Margaret O’Keefe); Jennifer Bright (Thomas); Adam Schierholz (Lisa); Patti is also survived by grand-niece Michelle Perez (Michael); grand-nephews Kristopher Daur Schierholz; Robert Bright; James Bright; and great-nephew Jaxson Perez.

Her funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte 80) East Haven Friday morning at 10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
