Obituary: Raymond A. “Buddy” Catalano 88, Formerly of East Haven

Raymond A. “Buddy” Catalano 88, of Cape Coral, Fl and formerly of East Haven, CT beloved husband of the late Marian Corcoran Catalano passed away peacefully with his family by his side on November 24, 2018 in Yale New Haven Hospital. Loving father of Debra (Ernie Marinko) Falvey of North Branford and Raymond T. Catalano of New Haven.

Grandfather of Kelly, Jack (Claire) and Erin Falvey. Brother of the late Flora Catalano, Louise Cummins, Hazel Loro and Clement, Michael, Henry and Frank Catalano. Buddy was born in New Haven on November 23, 1930 son of the late Frank and Anna Fierentino Catalano. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends. Buddy worked as a tool and die maker for Winchester, United Nuclear, Nu-Tru-Cut Machinery, and Cooper Industries.

He loved golfing, bowling, fishing, Bingo, and watching sports, especially Notre Dame football, UConn basketball, and the St. Louis Cardinals. Buddy will be best remembered for his generous spirit. His Bradley Street neighbors have wonderful memories of swimming in the pool he shared with all. Buddy’s strong bonds continued as he spent retirement in Florida with his wife, many Connecticut neighbors, and new friends.

Buddy built a sense of family anywhere he went; he used his passion for cooking to feed the hearts and souls of those he loved. Relatives and friends are invited to go DIRECTLY to St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at Our Lady of Pompeii Church on THURSDAY morning to celebrate a Memorial Mass at 11:00. Interment will be private. Friends may call on WEDNESDAY from 6pm to 8pm in the PORTO FUNERAL HOME 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80) East Haven.
