Rene Ruotolo Zacks, 59, of East Haven, formerly of Orange, passed away on July 29, 2025 at home with her family after a long illness. Rene was born in New Haven on October 13, 1966 to the late Norman and Maureen Curran Laroche Sr. Rene had an amazing and generous personality that touched many hearts. She was strong-willed and devoted to her family and friends. Rene was also devoted to her career as a surgical technologist, working at St. Raphael Hospital for more than 21 years, CT Vascular Center, St. Vincent’s Hospital and Dr. Lowlict’s private practice. Rene loved hosting family gatherings and holidays with much food and laughter with her great sense of humor. Rene was the loving wife of Richard Zacks, mother of Danielle (Eric) Carrano and grandmother of new grandchild, Roman Rudy Carrano of Woodbridge. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Jason (Alicia) Zacks, Justin Zacks and Ashley Zacks Alvarez. Grandmother of Brandon and Gianna Alvarez and Travis and Eliana Zacks all of East Haven. Rene held a special role of grandmother to Nicholas Borzillo who held a very special place in her heart. Rene leaves her sisters, Michele (Rich) Figaro and Linda (Jim) Carbone, all of Branford. She was predeceased by her brother, Norman Laroche Jr., and sister, Noreen Guinta.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service at the Old Stone Church on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. THERE WILL BE NO CALLING HOURS.
