Obituary: Richard T. Sartini Jr., 44, of East Haven

A mail handler for the state of CT for decades, he was an Annex Little League, Sal Tinari Biddy basketball & East Haven flag football coach.

Richard T. Sartini Jr., 44, beloved husband of Jaclyn Zimmerman-Sartini, passed away March 23, 2022 at Yale-New Haven Hospital surrounded by family.

Richard was born in New Haven August 10, 1977 to Richard Sartini Sr. and the late Kathleen Moore. He was a graduate of Wilbur Cross High School and worked for the State of Connecticut Department of Mental Health as a mail handler for 23 years.

In addition to his wife Jackie, he is survived by his father Richard Sr., step-mother Sharon; sons: Richard III (Megan), Alexander Dante, twins Jace David and Logan Austin; step-son Jack Zimmerman; daughter Daryah Sartini and grandson Jaylin Troutman. Also survived by his brothers Carl Lipp and Senior Chief Petty Officer Dante Sartini and his wife Maureen and his in-laws: Rosanne and James Mongillo. He was predeceased by his mother Kathleen, grandson Kody and father in law Dave Zimmerman.

Richard was proud to coach his boys in many sports, coaching over 20 years for Annex Little League, Sal Tinari Biddy basketball and East Haven flag football.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on WEDNESDAY March 30th from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at East Haven Memorial Funeral Home, 425 Main Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated THURSDAY March 31st at 11:00AM at Our Lady of Pompeii Church (St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish) 355 Foxon Rd. East Haven. Burial will follow in All Saint Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Richard Sartini Jr. Sports Scholarship, please send contributions to East Haven Memorial Funeral Home.
