Prior to his retirement in 1992, Sam worked for Yale University for over 20 years.

Sabato “Sam” DelFranco, 85, of East Haven beloved husband of the late Adelaide Cicarella DelFranco passed away October 29, 2018 in CT Hospice surrounded by his loving family. Loving father of Jody (David) Caprio and Teresa Amendola both of East Haven, Mark DelFranco and companion John Custy of Boston, MA and Michele DelFranco of North Branford.
Cherished grandfather of Daniel and David (Jillian) Caprio Jr., Vincent and Samantha Amendola , Deidre and Nicholas DiMaggio and Caedwyn Bardsley-Cutler . He also leaves "adopted son" Andrew Schieffelin and "adopted daughters" Marianne Cutler and Sandy Bardsley. He was predeceased by a sister, Antoinette Serra and a brother, John DelFranco. A special thank you to his caretaker Garfield Archer for his loving care. Prior to his retirement in 1992, Sam worked for Yale University for over 20 years.

He was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict.His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte 80) East Haven Friday morning at 10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11:00. Entombment with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call THURSDAY from 5:00-8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
