Teresa M. Izzo Handy, 62, of East Haven passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025 surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer at her home. Loving mother of Jessica (Phillip) Fitzgerald of East Haven and Jacqueline (Angel) Cruz of New Britain. Grandmother of Giuliana Massella. Sister of Denise (Leonard) Tartaglia of Wallingford and Susan (John) Pettella-Grant of East Haven. Teresa was born In New Haven on February 2, 1963 daughter of Edward A. Izzo of East Haven and the late Teresa A. Amendola Izzo. Prior to her retirement, Teresa was a lunch aide for the North Haven Board of Education. She is survived by three nieces, one nephew, two great nieces and many close friends and family. She was known for her witty sense of humor and loving, caring ways. She was a friend to all. She loved her family, vacationing and her garden. Teresa worked in the North Haven school cafeteria for many years, was an Avon representative and ran a home daycare where she raised all of our children. Her memory will be cherished forever by all who knew and loved her.
Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Friday morning, September 19, 2025, at St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will be private.
