Obituary: Theresa Grace Curcio Furtak, 90, of East Haven
Upon her retirement she volunteered at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, the Clelian Center of Hamden, and St. Vincent De Paul Elementary School.

Theresa Grace Curcio Furtak of East Haven was called to Heaven to serve as an angel on, Thursday, February 22, 2018. Her family would like to express special thanks to Apple Rehab Laurel Woods and Hospice for their excellent care. Theresa was born in New Haven on May 19, 1927 and was the daughter of the late John and Concetta DiLella Curcio.
She graduated from Commercial High School in 1945 and worked at Winchester Company before getting married and moving to East Haven where she raised her family.

Theresa worked in the cafeteria at Quinnipiac College, her zest for good food and good times were legendary. Upon her retirement she volunteered at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, the Clelian Center of Hamden, and St. Vincent De Paul Elementary School. Theresa also volunteered for many years at the Hospital of St. Raphael, where her sunny disposition and caring nature helped patients and staff alike.
She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years Thaddeus Thomas Furtak and infant son, John Joseph. More than anything she enjoyed unconditional love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Robert Furtak (Maureen), Ann Marie Thompson (Paul), and Mary Jane “Jagger” Cunha (Albert) of East Haven, and Barbara Jean Cushing (Tom) of Bahama, NC. The light of her life were her grandchildren: Paul Thompson, Jr., Colleen (Daniel) Hespelt, Steven (Lisa) Thompson, Tim (Amy) Furtak, Maria (Micah Strauss) Cunha, and Johnny Cunha; and her great-grandchildren: Justin, Lilliana, Caden, and Natalie.
