Obituary: Vincent “Sonny” Scala, 94, of East Haven
He served in the US Navy and Army, worked at O.F. Mossberg & Son for 50 years and was a UCONN Women's Basketball, Mets and Red Sox fan.
Vincent “Sonny” Scala, 94, of East Haven passed away April 15, 2023 at CT Hospice in Branford. He was born November 5, 1928 in New Haven to Ralph and Elizabeth (Arcucci) Scala. He is survived by his son, Ralph Scala (Tonya) of Texas and two grandchildren; Anthony and Kiahna Scala along with three siblings; Rosemarie O’Keefe (John) of North Haven, Ronald “Hoot” Scala of East Haven and Louis Scala (Michelle) of Texas. He is also survived by numerous nieces/nephews and great nieces/nephews.
Vincent is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ralph Scala, sister, Connie (Ralph) Vitale, nephew, John O’Keefe and a niece, Jennifer Laudano.

Vincent proudly served his country in the US Navy and then served in the US Army and was deployed to Germany until his Honorable Discharge in 1953. Vincent “Sonny” worked at O.F. Mossberg & Son for over 50 years. He was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed watching the UCONN Women’s Basketball, the NY Mets and the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed playing golf.
Vincent will fondly be remembered as Sonny or Casper. He was a generous man who loved his family with his whole heart. He will forever be missed.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at the Clancy- Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven from 9 to 10:30 AM at which his funeral procession will leave the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home for a 11 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, 80 Taylor Ave., East Haven. Burial to follow with full US Army Honors at East Lawn Cemetery, East Haven.
