Obituary: Vincent A. Virgulto, 81, of East Haven
A math teacher at schools from Milford to Branford, he was a coach, student-athlete mentor for decades who loved visiting Martha's Vineyard

Vincent A. Virgulto, 81, of East Haven passed away peacefully February 23rd, 2023 at St. Raphael Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Dinah Kelly Virgulto.
Vin was born July 12th, 1941 in New Haven to the late Pasquale and Nella Crescenzi Virgulto.
He received his bachelor’s degree from Southern Connecticut State University and his Master’s degree from the University of Bridgeport. Vin taught math for many years at Hamden High School, as well as at Milford Academy, Branford High School and Paier College. He was a coach for over 30 years at Milford Academy, Hamden, Branford and Hamden Hall, and mentored many hundreds of students and athletes over the course of his life. He also served as a basketball referee, umpire and football timer for many years. It was always a joy for him to run into former students, athletes, coaches and officials, and remember old stories.

Vin loved spending time with family and friends on Martha’s Vineyard and traveling with Dinah.
In addition to his wife Dinah, Vin is survived by his son Tom (Maureen) Virgulto of Madison, his daughters: Susan (Bill) McInerny of Atlanta, and Kelly (James) McNeil of Boston. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Ashlinn, Keelin, & Aedan Virgulto; Ryan & Kathryn Hughes and Dash McNeil. He was predeceased by his first cousin, Henry “Hank” Luzzi, who was like a brother to him.

Services were held Monday and Tuesday. His burial is private.
