Obituary: William McCarthy, 72, of East Haven
A Marine Vietnam War veteran, he had a 35-year career at Atlantic Wire, enjoyed golf and working on his '64 Corvette with his son Bill Jr.
William McCarthy, 72, of East Haven died peacefully on February 18, 2022, at Connecticut Hospice with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of Dianne Sullo McCarthy.
Bill was born in New Haven on May 16, 1949, to the late Robert and Doris Hudson McCarthy.
He served his country with honor and pride with the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam War.

After being honorably discharged, Bill began a 35-year career in the quality control department of Atlantic Wire formerly in Branford. He enjoyed playing golf, going to the range and working on repairing his ’64 Corvette with his son Bill Jr.
He was the proud father of William McCarthy, Jr. and his wife Taylor adoring grandfather to Frederick and Amelia McCarthy, and brother of Marion (Sue) McCarthy, Robert Jr. Dennis and the late Thomas and Russell McCarthy.

His services were held Wednesday, with military honors.
