Once Again It's Maturo for East Haven Republicans
Maturo turned back a strong challenge by Salvatore Maltese for the GOP town committee mayoral nomination.
Once again East Haven Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr. has earned the Republican Town Committee nomination for mayor, but challenger Salvatore Maltese put up a tough fight.
Maturo earned the nomination by a margin of 35-27, and both men pledged unity and to work together this fall to ensure Republicans are elected, the New Haven Register reports.
Maturo will seek his eighth term against Democratic challenger Michael Speer, who received his party’s nomination last week.

Maturo has touted the town’s strong fiscal health and recent praise East Haven has received for turning around the reputation of the Police Department, the Register reports.
