In 2018, 760 of the 1,017 opioid-related deaths involved one or more forms of fentanyl. In 2015, only 189 of 729 deaths were fentanyl-related. (https://www.govtech.com/analytics/Behind-the-Data-on-Connecticuts-Opioid-Overdose-Problem.html)
“Towns like East Haven are not immune from the impact of the nationwide opioid epidemic” said Carfora. “We want to make sure that we are doing everything that we can to keep our kids and community safe, but also that our law enforcement personnel and our fire services have all the latest and necessary tools as they work so very hard to protect our community”

Carfora wants to meet regularly with the stakeholders in this fight to be sure that they have the resources to protect and educate our community. “I know our great fire and police services have a plan- but I want to make sure that they know that we support their efforts in every way. Whether it is a state or federal grant, I can say with assurance that a Carfora Administration will look everywhere to make sure that East Haven receives all the resources it needs to support the dedicated public servants of this community and those families impacted by addiction”
