Paige Gambardella Named Sacred Heart SCC Fall Scholar

Paige Gambardella of East Haven was named a Sacred Heart Academy Southern Connecticut Athletic Conference 2019 Fall Scholar Athlete​.

HAMDEN, CT — Paige Gambardella of East Haven was named Sacred Heart Academy Southern Connecticut Athletic Conference 2019 Fall Scholar Athlete.

Gambardella will graduate from the all girls parochial preparatory school in 2020.

The Southern Connecticut Athletic Conference Scholar Athlete recognition program recognizes the 'best of the best.' Recipients are selected by their school’s coaches and athletic directors, must have a 3.0 average overall, and be a varsity letter winner. They must also demonstrate leadership qualities by being positive role models both on and off the field; exhibit the ability to help teammates overcome adversity; show commitment to self-improvement; and put the team’s needs ahead of themselves.

In a press release it was noted Gambardella "excels both in the classroom and on the field hockey field, is a positive role model, helps her teammates, is committed to self-improvement, and puts her team first"

Sacred Heart’s athletic program includes 26 teams competing in 14 varsity and junior varsity sports, with freshman teams in volleyball, basketball, and softball, with teams having qualified for All-Conference, All-State, and All-American selections. More than 60 percent of the student body competes in the following interscholastic sports, it was noted in a press release.

Founded in 1946 by the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Sacred Heart prepares young women in grades 9 – 12 for learning, service, and achievement in a global society and had 500 students from more than 80 schools and 60 towns in Connecticut and is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
