Pair Honored In East Haven For Saving A Life
Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr. presented the honor.

EAST HAVEN, CT — Christine Fitzgerald and Tariana Ortega were eating separately at the East Haven Chili's Restaurant on Jan. 31 when they both noticed a woman fall into cardiac arrest, and the quick-thinking budding medical professionals sprung into action.
The two performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the woman, who had turned blue right before their eyes, and saved her life, reports the New Haven Register. As it happens, Fitzgerald is a nursing student, and Ortega is a medical student.
They were honored for their efforts by East Haven Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr. during a ceremony last week and given Certificates of Recognition.
