Peter William Gagliardi obituary: Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, East Haven

Peter William Gagliardi, 57, of New Haven, passed away unexpectedly at home on August 28, 2025. He was born January 18, 1968, in New Haven to Peter and Clare (Pergamalis) Gagliardi. Peter is survived by his brother, Robert Gagliardi (Nilda), and four nieces and nephews; David Malick (Christina), Diane Malick (Orlando), Robert Gagliardi (Amanda), and Cynthia Gagliardi, along with six great nieces/nephews and a brother-in-law, John Malick.
Peter is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Karen Malick, who are remembered in the
hearts of family and friends.
Upon first impression, Peter was quiet and reserved, but it was not long before he had everyone laughing after firing off a witty remark with his unique gift of humor. His ability to quickly launch clever one-liners during conversations, on any subject, was a testament to his broad knowledge, gathered from his love of reading and his ability to recall most of what he read.

Peter graduated from Wilbur Cross High School in 1984, but his curiosity for learning extended far beyond his schooling years. An avid reader, Peter read about a vast range of topics, everything from biographies of historical figures to literary masterpieces like Moby-Dick. His knowledge from reading enriched conversations, and he had a gift for engaging others with stimulating discussions.
Peter retired from the U.S. Postal Service, where he worked for 37 years and was well liked by many of his coworkers. Outside of work, Peter’s personal interests included classic movies and sitcoms. He appreciated a good storyline, and found joy in the timeless narratives of cinema. With a heart that beat to the rhythm of ‘80s rock and roll, he immersed himself in the melodies that defined a generation, while also savoring all genres of music. Peter enjoyed cooking, an interest he shared with his father and both of his grandfathers.
