Quality Inn On Frontage Road To Be Demolished, New Hotel Built in 2023
The East Haven Planning & Zoning Commission approved a site plan modification for the previously OK'd hotel plan, stalled by the pandemic.

EAST HAVEN, CT —Now that the town's planning and zoning commission have blessed a slightly revised site plan, the demolition of the Quality Inn at 30 Frontage Road will begin at some point in the new year.
The razing of the building should take around two months. Next up would be the beginning of the construction of a new hotel, a Home2 Suites by Hilton. That would take around a year, applicant Gary Desai of Darbar LLC said.
In January 2020, the commission OK'd a 107-room Home2 Suites hotel, but the pandemic stalled the project.

Now, with a new prototype for the building, the commission looked at, and approved, a Site Plan Modification.
The design now calls for 103 rooms and the already-approved swimming pool would be positioned more to the south, and central, of the hotel, which would be farther from Route 1 and road and highway noise.

The building itself would be 40-feet farther west, making it further away from neighboring residential homes. With fewer rooms, there would also be less parking. And, "green engineering measures" were added for stormwater management; a rain garden is proposed to collect roof runoff.
