Rebecca 'Becky' Cuevas of East Haven Named To ACES Leadership
Cuevas' new role is that of Director of Special Programs and Community Engagement at Area Cooperative Educational Services of North Haven.

EAST HAVEN, CT — Rebecca "Becky" Cuevas of East Haven was promoted to the role of Director of Special Programs and Community Engagement at Area Cooperative Educational Services of North Haven.
This position oversees and supervises the Head Start/Early Head Start programs, ACCESS, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and community engagement. In her new role, Cuevas holds a seat on the ACES Executive Leadership Council.
Cuevas has over 30 years of experience working with families, early education, and home visiting initiatives in Connecticut. She has long believed that "parents play an essential role in their children’s lives and that families thrive when they feel supported within their communities," according to a new release in which she is quoted.

“I am truly grateful for this wonderful opportunity to join the Executive Leadership Council inmy new position. The work across ACES schools and programs continues to inspire me todayjust as much as it did 19 years ago when I was hired,” Cuevas said. “I wish to bring a perspective intertwined with my many years of experience that is deeply rooted in early childhood, head start, education, social work, family, and community engagement. With the many priorities before us, I will remain committed to equity and inclusion through opportunities that will allow the many voices around us to be heard.”
Over the past 19 years, she's worked in a variety of roles at ACES and was one of the original team members to implement the Early Head Start program. Most recently, she was the ACES Early Head Start and Head Start Director. In this position, she led ACES work with partners Capitol Region Education Council, Catholic Charities, and The Village for Families and Children to manage federal Head Start and Early Head Start Programs in Hartford and Middlesex Counties.

The partnership was the result of a $9.1 million award received by CREC to support and develop Head Start and Early Head Start programs. ACES Early Head Start and Head Start programs and its partnerships have established relationships to ensure early, continuous, intensive, and comprehensive development, preschool, and family support services for children living in Middlesex County.
“Becky brings a breadth of knowledge, expertise, and experiences,” ACES Executive Director Dr. Thomas Danehy said. “She is a great voice and advocate for so much of our mission-
driven work at ACES.”
