Rep. Albis Honored By Donate Life CT

Albis is a state representative for East Haven.

State Representative James Albis (D-East Haven) said he is honored to be recognized as Donate Life Connecticut’s 2015 Honoree of the Year.

Donate Life Connecticut is dedicated to educating Connecticut residents about the lifesaving benefits of organ and tissue donation and increasing the number of registered donors.

“I am incredibly honored to have received this award from Donate Life Connecticut. It is through this fantastic organization that I have grown to understand how important raising awareness about organ and tissue donation truly is. They are not just educating the public about this important issue, but are saving lives in the process. It has been my pleasure to work alongside Donate Life CT over the years and I look forward to continuing our partnership,” said Rep. Albis in a prepared statement.

Rep. Albis worked with Donate Life to create the Organ Donation Awareness Advisory Council to continue to increase the number of organ donors in Connecticut. This session, Rep. Albis proposed HB 6281 An Act Concerning Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness, which would establish an organ and tissue donation awareness fund Connecticut residents may contribute to when registering their car at the Department of Motor Vehicles. The bill was reported favorably out of the Public Health Committee.

“Representative James Albis has been a great supporter and friend to Donate Life Connecticut for years. We are thankful for his commitment to organ and tissue donation education through our public outreach events and legislative endeavors, such as HB 6281 presently being reviewed,” said Kari Mull, Director Donate Life CT.

State Representative James Albis is serving his third term representing the 99th district of East Haven. He serves as Chair of the Environment Committee and as a member of both the Finance and Executive and Legislative Nomination Committees.
