Rep. Albis Visits Marrakech Employees
Albis visited and spoke with employees about the challenges state funding has for the non-profit agency.

On Wednesday, August 26, 2015, Marrakech employees and residents welcomed State Representative James Albis to one of their homes in East Haven, Connecticut.
There, Representative Albis chatted with employees about the work they do at the organization and toured the home. Employees explained to Representative Albis that despite the fact that many nonprofits are fiscally responsible and can provide services in a very cost effective manner, flat funding year after year is in actuality a reduction in resources as other expenses continue to increase.
Even though Marrakech’s employees have not received any meaningful Cost of Living Adjustments (COLAs) since 2008, they were eager to tell Representative Albis all of the reasons why they continue to do the work that they do in helping people achieve their goals of self-sufficiency and an increased quality of life.
