Robbery At East Haven Convenience Store Under Investigation

Police said the robbery occurred Friday night at a convenience store on Foxon Road.

EAST HAVEN, CT — Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Friday at an East Haven convenience store.

According to East Haven police, officers responded to Zaza City, located at 855 Foxon Rd., shortly after 10:30 p.m. after receiving a call about a robbery.

Police said the caller stated they had just witnessed a robbery taking place inside the business. The witness also told police they saw two Black men dressed in all black and wearing ski masks enter the business with guns and jump over the sales counter.

When officers arrived at the business, they learned that one of the suspects had an AK-47-style rifle, while the second suspect had a handgun. According to police, the suspects made off with an undetermined amount of cash and fled the area toward New Haven.

No injuries were reported.

Police are asking anyone in the Foxon Road, Crest Avenue and Highland Avenue areas to check their video surveillance systems for any footage that might help investigators identify the suspects or a vehicle related to the investigation.
