Senior Housing Plan Ok'd for Old East Haven High School Site: Report

A majority of the senior housing units will be considered affordable.

EAST HAVEN, CT — The former East Haven High School at 200 Tyler Street will be developed by Winn Development Limited Partnership, of Boston into 70 housing units for seniors over the age of 55, the New Haven Register reports.

The Town Council approved the plans this week by a 12-1 vote with District 4 Councilwoman Letizia Lettieri-Morales voting no. Fifty of the units will be considered affordable, the Register reports.

Plans allow for the pool and gym to remain owned by the town. Some residents expressed concerns over asbestos and parking. A total of 150 parking spaces are included in the housing plan.
