Several East Haven Elementary Schools Among the County's Best

None of East Haven’s elementary schools ranked among the top 100 public elementary schools in Connecticut, based on new rankings of the best schools in the state from Niche.com.

New Haven County didn’t have a lot of schools among the top 100 as the list was comprised of three Madison, two Guilford, and one Cheshire schools.The Connecticut list can be found here: “Best Public Elementary Schools in Connecticut.”

But the news is still good for East Haven as a separate ranking of the top 88 public elementary schools in New Haven County resulted in strong rankings for several schools.

Here’s how they placed:

• Carbone School/East Haven Academy— No. 43
• Momauguin School— No. 53
• Dominick H. Ferrara School— No. 55
• Grove J. Tuttle School— No. 64

According to Niche, a high ranking indicates that “students are happy with their experiences in all aspects, especially academics, teachers, and diversity,” “the school is an exceptional academic institution in terms of teachers, students, resources for learning, and student outcomes,” and “the school is made up of a diverse population and fosters an accepting, positive school culture.”

Specifically, Carbone received a B- for academics, C+ for district overall experience, and a B- for the quality of teaching. Momauguin received a C for academics, C+ for district overall experience, and a B- for the quality of teaching.

Ferrara School received a C for academics, C+ for district overall experience, and a B- for the quality of teaching. Tuttle received a C for academics, C+ for district overall experience, and a C+ for the quality of teaching.
