Several East Haven Firefighters Sustain Minor Injuries During Monday's Garage Fire

East Haven firefighters battled a commercial building fire on Tyler Street Exension Monday afternoon in adverse and brutally cold conditions, according to the fire union’s Facebook page.

Several firefighters sustained minor injuries from falls on the ice.

The fire began around 12:30 p.m. at a detached garage at the F.J. Weidner subcontractor facility, NBC Connecticut reports. The affected garage is not part of the machining business and is rented to an outside company, NBC Connecticut reports.

The main building where the business is housed is fine, NBC Connecticut reports.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
