ShopRite of East Haven Adds a New Registered Dietician

EAST HAVEN, CT — Customers can now receive complimentary health and wellness advice, counseling and meal planning at the ShopRite of East Haven, courtesy of ShopRite’s new in-store Registered Dietitian, Sarah Vacher.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Sara Vacher to our team here at ShopRite,” said Harry Garafalo, whose family also operates ShopRite stores in East Haven, Milford, Stratford, West Haven and Hamden, according to a news release from ShopRite. “We believe her passion for nutrition combined with her experience, creativity and expertise will be a wonderful asset that will benefit our customers, our associates and the greater community.”

As the new Registered Dietitian for the ShopRite of East Haven, Vacher provides complimentary health and wellness services that guide customers on a range of issues, from learning how to shop and prepare healthy meals, to proper nutrition for specific health conditions and dietary needs.

Vacher also offers recipes with healthy alternatives, provides information on pantry makeovers, and navigates the aisles with shoppers to help them better understand food labels. In addition, Vacher partners with local hospitals, schools and non-profits to conduct free health and wellness-focused workshops and seminars.

Originally from Virginia Beach, VA, Vacher earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Nutrition, Food, and Exercise, as well as her Master of Public Health degree, at Virginia Tech. She completed her clinical supervised practice at St. Raphael’s Hospital in New Haven, CT. Before joining the ShopRite RD team, Sarah worked for Meals on Wheels in New Britain.

A resident of Wallingford in her spare time, Sarah enjoys skiing, rock climbing, hiking, and yoga.

As part of ShopRite’s in-store dietitian team, Vacher is one of more than 130 Retail Dietitians who service ShopRite customers in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware and Maryland.
