17-Year-Old Sustains Serious Injuries After Snowmobile Accident: UPDATE

The accident occurred Thursday morning and it involved a snow plow truck.

EAST HAVEN, CT — The East Haven Police Department confirms there was a a serious injury motor vehicle accident involving a snowmobile and a private truck/plow.

The accident occurred near the intersection of Main Street and Gerrish Avenue Thursday morning, police said. A 17 year-old male sustained serious leg injuries and was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital.

There were rumors that there was a second passenger/victim, police said. This is false, police added. There was only one occupant on the snowmobile, police stressed. The victim’s identity is being withheld because of his age. Motor vehicle charges are pending regarding the operation of a snowmobile on a public roadway, police said.

EAST HAVEN, CT — A scary situation in East Haven this morning as WFSB 3 TV reports that a snowplow struck a snowmobile just after 10 a.m. near the intersection of Main Street and Gerrish Avenue.

Fox 61 reports there were serious injuries. In an update Fox 61 says a man who assisted the injured snowmobiler said the victim was in his mid-teens. The injured teen said he routinely performs tricks on the snowmobile. Fox reports that the teen suddenly veered into the road at the same time the snowplow was driving down the street.
