EAST HAVEN, CT —A woman was robbed of her purse this weekend in a store parking lot by a man cops say was living in a sober house.
On Saturday at around 8 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Stop and Shop on Hemingway Ave., for a report of a robbery of an elderly female. When s got there, they spoke with the victim who was with her grandson. She told them that the robbery occurred in the parking lot after she left the store. She said a man came up from behind her and grabbed her wallet out of her hand before running away. She said that she and her grandson ran after him but lost him after he got into a silver sedan, which took off.
But her "quick-thinking" grandson took a picture of the car with his phone which captured the make and model, and the license plate number.
