Social Media Threats Prompt More Police Presence Around Schools

Police Capt. Joseph Murgo said that while no TikTok/social media threats have been found to be credible, "we take all threats seriously."

EAST HAVEN, CT —As schools are on a heightened sense of alert, in East Haven and other nearby towns, none of the threats of school violence Friday shared on TikTok have been found to be credible, police say.

But that's not stopping schools from Madison to East Haven to have beefed up police presence at schools, just in case.

"None of these threats seem credible, but we take all threats seriously and dedicate additional personnel when we receive them, credible or not," East Haven Police Department Capt. Joseph M. Murgo told Patch.
