Guilford police said that during the attempted carjacking, the owner of the vehicle was assaulted after the suspects implied that they had a gun. The robbery was unsuccessful, and six took off on I-95S in the same car they arrived in: a white 2021 Maserati. The car was spotted by East Haven officers as it passed through the town in the area of West Frontage Road. East Haven police officers Donato Palma, Anthony Fiorillo and Anthony Beretta got on I-95 and were able to see the car from a distance getting off I-95 south and getting on I-91 north. But it soon got off the highway at exit 2, Hamilton Street.
The officers tried to stop the car, which fled across Hamilton Street and continued into an industrial storage facility.
