Town Landfill Phase 1 Opening Set For May 23

No passes are needed, but proof of residency is required. And, face coverings must be worn and all posted safety protocols must be followed.

EAST HAVEN, CT — The town landfill on Commerce Drive will reopen on Saturday, May 23 from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. with limited access.

The plan is to "reopen in phases to ensure that the safety of the employees and residents," a media release from the town reads.

Phase One will begin that Saturday and going forward will be Fridays and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. No passes are needed, but proof of residency needs to be provided in order to enter. All residents should remain in their vehicles and will be instructed where to pull to unload. Face coverings MUST be worn and all posted safety protocols MUST be followed.

The following items will be accepted:

Brush, leaves, shrubbery, small tree limbs, and electronics are free provided that they enter the landfill in either a private passenger automobile, SUV, van, or a single rear wheel axle pickup truck weighing less than 12,000 pounds and without modified beds or trailers.
