Town, New Haven Boys & Girls Club Partner On JMMS 'Summer Kick Off'

EAST HAVEN, CT — The town of East Haven has partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater New Haven with a summer program for middle school-age kids.

A Summer Kick-Off Event for grades 5 through 8 is set for Wednesday, June 28, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Joseph Melillo Middle School gymnasium and cafeteria.

Mayor Joseph A. Carfora said the collaborative effort is designed to bring together middle school-aged children in our community, fostering team building, exploring new activities, cultivating peer relationships, and engaging in recreational pursuits.

"We are thrilled to begin a partnership with this amazing organization," he said. "By joining forces with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater New Haven, we aim to provide an unforgettable experience that will create lasting memories for our young residents."

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater New Haven and East Haven Youth Services are pooling their
programming specialties, he said, to create an evening filled with fun and excitement at JMMS.

The event will offer a range of activities tailored to the interests of middle school students. Sports enthusiasts can participate in track and field clinics, while those with a passion for culinary arts can explore the world of baking and cupcake decorating. For the scientifically inclined, a STEM exploration segment allows them to create bath bombs and explore the wonders of exploding chalk. Additionally, there will be an Arts & Crafts section for young artists to create their own masterpieces.
