We 'Heart' These Kids Who Raised Almost $12K For Heart Health
Kindergarteners, and 1st and 2nd graders at Deer Run School exercised their hearts out to raise money for the American Heart Association.
EAST HAVEN, CT —In 2017, Deer Run Elementary School kids raised around $4,000 for the American Heart Association.
This year, the kids raised $11,592. Jennifer Black, the school's physical education teacher, said the amount of money raised is "astounding."
And the most the school has ever raised in the years it has been working to spread awareness about heart disease while having fun exercising.

The Kids Heart Challenge, a fundraiser for the American Heart Association, is also a program that helps students learn about heart health, and encourages them to share that information with their families.
Black said that in addition to sharing the good news about the amount of money raised by the kids, she wanted to "thank the community for their incredible support."
