What Could Possibly Attract A Crowd Of 600 On A Thursday Night?

EAST HAVEN, CT — Thirty-seven "very enthusiastic" bakers, all with uniquely themed presentations, vied for the coveted bragging rights. Who had the best homemade Anginette cookie?

The East Haven Rotary Club's annual Anginette Wars fundraising event drew a crowd of almost 600 —on a Thursday night —to East Haven High School.

Proceeds from the club's largest fundraiser are put back into the community.

Some Club annual activities include the distribution of full meals to East Haven residents on Thanksgiving Day; High School Scholarships; the Ben Mazzucco Clothe the Children campaign and the full sponsorship of a child to attend “Camp Rising Sun," Colebrook, which welcomes children aged five to 17, who have faced a diagnosis of cancer for a week of fun and friendship.

The East Haven Rotary Club, Inc., a 501c3 organization was officially formed on March 3, 1939 and as such is now celebrating its 84th anniversary. The club has been providing various forms of community service to East Haven residents since that time. In addition, the club also has taken part in various projects both regionally, nationally and internationally.
