WHERE'S JOE MATURO? In light of the unjustifiable publicity being brought to East Haven with the now infamous Shop Rite racist video, where's Joe Maturo? As the highest elected official of our town, the Mayor should be the first one to stand up for our residents given the untrue innuendos made by the NAACP. He seems more interested in whether or not he should run for Mayor or not again and taking the voters for granted rather than defending them. But on the other hand, it would be difficult for Maturo to be the spokesman on any racially related matter since he has been responsible for the majority of the negative press brought to this community with respect to these subjects that were caused by him and his administrations actions over the years. With the NAACP bringing him to task for bias hiring practices that the courts agreed with, to the the nationally viral "taco" comment
about Latinos to a Latino reporter and ultimately the Police department issues with the Department of Justice that began under his watch along side with his hand picked Police Chief. Need I add how much that debacle cost the Town in expenses to defend in addition to all his other frivolous lawsuits we have and will be footing the bill for. I commend Councilman Joe Carfora for having the guts to come forward and stick up for our residents while Maturo has been noticeably silent on the issue. This is the one time he should have opened his big mouth. In closing my hope is that all parties heal from this unfortunate event and that the Town of East Haven remains that shining town on the shore.
Respectfully
