Work Underway For 'Cabaret On Main,' In East Haven: Report

"Life is a cabaret, old chum. Come to the cabaret." Hopefully come summer, theater co-owners Billy DiCrosta and Neil Fuentes, per report.

EAST HAVEN, CT — The plan for a cabaret theatre was approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission in the summer of 2020, records show.

And it's taken a while, given pandemic obstacles, but as reported by the New Haven Register, Cabaret on Main, located in the New Haven Academy of Performing Arts at 597 Main St., has begun construction.

The Register reports that theater co-owners Billy DiCrosta and Neil Fuentes "saw an opportunity to build their own theater for the community and performances" in the site of a former car dealership at 597 Main St.

In July 2020, according to Planning and Zoning Commission documents, DeCrosta's NHAOPA was seeking an OK for an indoor theatre in the back of the building, formerly occupied by a car dealership.

"The theater will allow students the opportunity to conduct on stage
performances and learn technical aspects of the performing arts industry including set design,
audio mixing, lighting technique and videography," per town documents.

Access to the theater would be through the front of the building. The theater would consist of a lobby and two bathrooms and the auditorium with seating, a main stage and backstage areas.
