Yellow Jackets Get Sudsy
Members of the East Haven High School Marching Band and Color Guard washed more than 50 cars at a fundraising event Saturday at Town Hall.
Saturday was sunny and sudsy for members of the East Haven High School Marching Band and Color Guard.
Kids from the band held their first of four car washes at Town Hall this season in an effort to fundraise for the upcoming marching season.
With buckets, hoses and sponges in hand the kids washed more than 50 cars in the Town Hall parking lot and had a blast doing it. Some of the members’ siblings even stopped by to help out. Band parents organized the event and Mayor April Capone gave her support by allowing the kids to use the lot at Town Hall.

The next car washes are scheduled for June 25, July 16 and August 5 (all Saturdays). For a $5 donation, town residents can stop by and get a real hand wash. For an additional $2, the kids are also selling bumper and window stickers to support The Pride of East Haven, the award-winning 2010 State and New England Champion Yellow Jacket Marching Band.
