Accomplishments By Ellington, Somers College Students: Spring 2023

ELLINGTON-SOMERS, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire. More great feats will be noted in the coming weeks.

Bryant University, Smithfield RI

• Matthew Kiernan of Somers and Vincent Sivo of Ellington were named to the spring 2023 President's List. The President's List is an academic distinction reserved for Bryant's highest achievers who earn a GPA of 4.0 for at least 12 semester hours of work.
• Bryant University is pleased to recognize the students who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to academic excellence and achievement and have been named to the spring 2023 Dean's List. To earn a place on the Dean's List students must have a GPA of 3.4 or better for at least 12 semester hours of work. Congratulations to Allison Carra, Anthony Carra, Jack Gebo, Matthew Kiernan and Gavin Rauza, all of Somers, and Padraigh Fitzgerald, Andrew Heyman and Vincent Sivo, all of Ellington.

Central Connecticut State University, New Britain CT

• The following local students were named to the spring 2023 Dean’s List at Central
  Connecticut State University. From Ellington: Nihal Baiju, Benjamin Beturne, Hannah Boudreau, Andrew Delaney, Nora Hany, Thomas Joyse, Abel Kloter, Sydney Logan, Shannon Milligan, Kaitlin Smith and Philip Vrakas. From Somers: Amelia Carenzo, Nicole Jonelis and Faith Sarisley.

Coastal Carolina University, Conway SC

• More than 1,000 students were named to the President's List at Coastal Carolina University for the spring 2023 semester, including Samuel Bedard, from Ellington. Students who made the President's List have achieved a 4.0 grade point average during the semester.
• More than 2,400 undergraduate students at Coastal Carolina University were named to the Dean's List for the spring 2023 semester, including Aubrey Charbonneau, from Ellington. Students who make the Dean's List have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher (3.25 for freshmen) for the semester.

College of the Holy Cross, Worcester MA

• Alexis Cantin of Ellington, Class of 2024, and John Denehy of Somers, Class of 2026, were named to the College of the Holy Cross' Dean's List for outstanding academic achievement during the spring semester of the 2022-23 academic year. To qualify for the Dean's List, students must pass four or more letter-graded courses with no failing grades during the semester and earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Hartwick College, Oneonta NY

• Erin Novak of Somers was presented with a True Blue award by the Hartwick College Athletic Department during its annual recognition ceremony held in late spring. Novak, who is majoring in biology, was among a select group of student-athletes to be recognized with the award, which acknowledges four-year letter winners.

• Kyle Beebe of Somers graduated from the University of Vermont with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Christian Walker of Somers graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration.
