ELLINGTON, CT — A tractor-trailer crash on Jobs Hill Road sent a set of loose tires through several front yards Saturday, damaging multiple mailboxes and a fence, according to Connecticut State Police.
The crash happened at about 12:20 p.m. on Jobs Hill Road, about three-tenths of a mile south of the Somers town line, according to a state police crash information summary.
Police said the tractor-trailer was heading south when an axle broke away from the trailer, causing it to lose a set of dual tires. The tires then traveled along the side of the road, first hitting debris in front of a home at 328 Jobs Hill Road.
From there, police said, the tires continued south and struck mailboxes or posts at homes numbered 326, 324 and 322. The tires then crossed through the front yard of 320 Jobs Hill Road, where they hit a vinyl fence on the south side of a garage before coming to rest in a wooded area.
State police said no injuries were reported. The tractor-trailer was later driven to a garage on Meadow Brook Road.
According to the crash summary, the trailer’s owner was found at fault because of the equipment failure.
