Car Dunks Into Fence At Doughnut Shop In Somers

A driver confused his gears, then was arrested for DUI, state police said.

SOMERS, CT — A drunken driving incident at a Dunkin' Donuts in Somers led to a Massachusetts man being arrested, state police said.

According to a crash report, at 1:48 p.m. on April 29, a 35-year-old East Longmeadow man was driving a 2008 Volvo C30 south in the parking lot of the 12 South Road Dunkin' Donuts.

He suddenly slammed into the fence surrounding some dumpsters, according to a crash report. He then told police he had the car's gears mixed up, according to a crash report.

A witness told state police the man was slumped over and appeared to be asleep, only to wake up and head straight into the fence, according to a crash report.

He was then charged with driving under the influence.
